Feeling Sentimental Card 3

Feeling Sentimental Card 3

The third card in my Feeling Sentimental series was inspired by Norma Pimentel.  She created a set of cards that were very simple and had a similar layout.  I decided to increase the layers by adding some Designer Series Paper and additional card stock.

To create this card, you will need:

  • Very Vanilla Card Stock
  • Summer Starfruit Card Stock
  • Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set (2013 Sale-A-Bration Set)
  • Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (2013 Sale-A-Bration Reward)
  • Needlepoint Border Textured Impressions Embossing Folders
  • Loving Thoughts Stamp Set
  • Soft Suede Ink

This stamp set lends itself well to simple yet elegant cards.  The detail in the stamps make the card look very beautiful.  Check back tomorrow for the final Feeling Sentimental card.

Sentimental Day 2

For the second Feeling Sentimental card, I featured the telephone booth image.  This card was inspired by one by Christine Miller, posted on Pinterest.

In our household, the free telephone books dropped off on our porch generally go straight to recycling because we use the internet to look up all phone numbers.  However, the entire week leading up to the workshop featuring this stamp set, I was actually hoping that one of those phone books would be delivered to my doorstep.  Why?  Because I wanted to tear out the yellow pages and use as my poor man’s designer series paper.  But, alas, no phone books for the Lawson family!  Oh well!

For this card, you will need:

  • Feeling Sentimental (2013 Sale-A-Bration set)
  • Pretty Petites (2013 Sale-A-Bration set)
  • Petite Curly Label Punch
  • Cherry Cobbler Card Stock
  • Basic Gray Card Stock
  • Whisper White Card Stock
  • First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper
  • Bitty Buttons
  • Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack
  • Linen Thread
  • Cherry Cobbler Ink

I liked the “hello” stamp with the phone booth.  Seemed like a perfect fit.

Sentimental Day 1

I recently did a workshop for a group of lovely ladies in Arlington, WA and I decided to feature the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration.  When I first saw this set, I wasn’t sure how I would use it, but I saw a few samples at a Stampin’ Up! meeting which inspired some ideas, so it was one of my next rewards.

I came up with four designs for the workshop.  One card that featured all the images and then three other cards that featured the individual images alone.  I’m going to share these cards over the next four days.  All the cards were inspired by designs I saw on Pinterest.

Feeling Sentimental Card 1

Feeling Sentimental Card 1

The first card features all the images from the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set.  It was inspired by one done by Elizabeth Hurst.  Each square only shows a portion of the entire stamped image.

I stamped the images onto Very Vanilla card stock using Midnight Muse ink.  I layered the images onto Midnight Muse card stock before adhering to the card.

The card base is Crumb Cake and I used First Edition Designer Series Paper.  I distressed the designer series paper by crinkling it together and then applying a bit of Midnight Muse ink to the designer series paper.

I left the inside blank so that I can add any any kind of message for a celebratory occasion.

If you like Feeling Sentimental, you have until March 22 to place an order of $50 or more to receive this set for free.  Visit my website or contact me about placing an order.  See you tomorrow with another Feeling Sentimental Card.

Mario Brothers Birthday Card

My son, Liam, turned 7 on Tuesday. He has decided to have a Mario Brothers themed birthday party so I have been experimenting with some punch art to create Mario Brothers. A birthday card by Gill Prescott on Pinterest inspired some of my designs. Although this is not the final version of Mario for the birthday invitations, I decided it would make for a great birthday card for Liam.

I used the following punches:

  • 2 1/2″ Circle Punch
  • 1 1/4″ Circle Punch
  • Oval Punch
  • Scallop Oval Punch

I also used the Petite Curly Label Punch (available now as a free Sale-A-Bration item when you spend $50) and the Sale_A-Bration stamp set, Pretty Petites.  I really like the Petite Curly Label Punch.  I’m so glad that it was offered as a Sale-A-Bration item.

Card stocks are Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Pacific Point, Basic Black and Early Espresso.  The Designer Series Paper is a retired print, but the stars were just perfect for the card.

The birthday party invitations are still in work, but will be posted when complete.  As will the fun party details.

Kick Up Your Heels!

In yesterday’s post, I mentioned our Spring SB Stampers meeting for demonstrators in my area.  Wherever Stampin’ Up! demonstrators are gathered, swapping is usually going on.  For my swaps, I used Bootiful Occasions to create a fun birthday card!

The Designer Series paper is Comfort Cafe.  I also used:

  • Midnight Muse Cardstock
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock
  • 1/8″ Mini Brads
  • Early Espresso Ink Pad
  • River Rock Stampin’ Write Marker
  • Dimensionals and Snail

I made enough that I had some extras to put away in my stash of cards for future use.  As you all know, it is always a good idea to have extra stamps on hand for birthdays, get well, thank yous and more!

Pop Up Posies

At the beginning of February, I attended the Spring meeting for my Stampin’ Up! demonstrator group, SB Stampers.  This is one of the things I really enjoy about Stampin’ Up!; getting together with other stampers and crafters to talk shop and make some projects.  We always have some great samples and Make and Takes at our meetings.  This one was no exception.

I don’t remember the last name of the demonstrator who designed our Make and Take projects, but I know her first name was Mary.  So a shout out to Mary of SB Stampers for these great ideas!

Pop Up Posies Make and Take

Pop Up Posies Make and Take

We used the Pop Up Posies Designer Kit from the 2013 Occasions catalog.  This kit is great and there are so many pieces and great ideas for it.  With the addition of some designer series paper, cellophane bags, ribbon, button, and cardstock, we made a cute Love banner, Easter Treat Bag, and two cards.  The item number is 131395 and for $12.95 (US), you get the following:

  • 9 embossed paper tags
  • 9 fabric covered brads (6 Very Vanilla and 3 Summer Starfruit)
  • Pre-cut paper flowers in Pool Party and Calypso Coral
  • Paper “cupcake” liners to make flowers, Very Vanilla
  • 9 pieces of thick Vanilla Baker’s Twine

Isabel’s Birthday Road Trip

At 14, goodie bags at a birthday party just aren’t cool anymore (unless you want to spend $$ on each guest), so for Isabel’s friends coming on her birthday road trip, we did scrapbook pages.  I really loved the 2012 Convention Make & Take using the “You’re Amazing” stamp set and divided scrapbook pages from Stampin’ Up! so I decided to CASE that for the girls.

You’ll see that we once again used the Travel Log images that I had stamped when I borrowed the stamps from a fellow demonstrator.  Funny story with that stamp set.  I was meeting the other demonstrator at a SU meeting and I wanted to stamp the images I needed and return the stamp set at the meeting.  I totally forgot that they were clear mounted stamps so I had no blocks with me.  ACK!  What’s a stampin’ girl to do?  Use your iPhone as a block.  Yep, I attached the clear stamps to the back of my phone and stamped away!  🙂  I’d post a picture, but I only had my phone with me so I couldn’t take a picture of my phone with my phone.  🙂

Back to the originally scheduled post here.  In addition to the Travel Log Stamp set, the girls also used Sentimental Journey (retired) and Feel Goods from the current 2013 Occasions Catalog.  For Designer Series paper, I used Tea for Two.  I also used the Tea for Two fabric.  Isabel hand picked the pattern for each girl.  Consistent with the original design from convention, I used Natural Composition and First Edition Specialty Papers.  My color pallet was the 2011-2013 In Colors- Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade and Pool Party.  I couldn’t resist adding a some Hung Up Cute Clips and also a Soda Pop Top.

Soda Pop Cap

The lower right pocket holds a booklet that opens to include more photos and embellishments.  I gave all the girls extra images from Travel Log.

Here’s a trick with the Soda Pop Tops- to flatten them, run them through the Big Shot between your cutting plates using your platform.  Super fun and cute!  I might have to stock up on the soda pop tops before the catalog ends in May.

I used Crystal Effects on the Soda Pop Top image.  I ended up buying a new bottle of Crystal Effects for the project.  If you haven’t bought a bottle since the 2012-2013 catalog came out, you will be pleasantly surprised!  There is a little pokey thing in the lid to help keep it from clogging.  Very cool!  Those folks at Stampin’ Up! headquarters are so smart!

Banner Accent with Cute Clip Arrow

Banner Accent with Cute Clip Arrow

The Cute Clips are a fun accent for cards and scrapbook pages.  And, at $4.95 for a container of 24, it is a bargain.  The Hung Up clips have an arrow, hanger, and thought bubble.  I also purchased the Elements clips which have a whale, heart, and bird.  I used the arrow clips along with some small banners that I made with scraps of the Designer Series paper and cardstock.  They stamped the word “Journey” (Sentimental Journey Stamp Set) on the cardstock.  I also used a bit of Island Indigo ribbon from the Sycamore Street Ribbons and Buttons.  I stacked things together and attached with glue dots before adding the Cute Clip.  The whole arrangement was attached to the outer plastic with another couple of glue dots.

Isabel and her friends loved their pages and it was a fun activity for them in between sight seeing while we were in Forks and Port Angeles.  Plus, they have a great way to capture their memories.

While on our trip, we toured the sights of Port Angeles and Forks (beach, Twighlight, shopping, etc.).  The girls also went out to the driving ranch to hit some golf balls and they went roller skating.  Birthday dinner was at Pacific Pizza in Forks and we had a great cake made by a friend of my mom.  It was a fun weekend for everyone.

Get Well Liam and Tessa

Tags

,

Things have been interesting in the Lawson home the last few weeks.  First, Tessa broke her arm during kickball at school.  She has a buckle fracture and will be in a brace until March 22.  And yesterday, Liam had his tonsils and adenoids removed.  Two kiddos not feeling 100% so some Get Well cards were in order.

I decided to use the Patterned Occasions set and Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button set from the Sale-A-Bration offerings.  Along with some other sets, I came up with two Get Well cards for two great kids.

Tessa's Get Well Card

Tessa’s Get Well Card

For Tessa’s Card, I used the Elephant image from Patterned Occasions.  I applied the ink with markers and left off the sentiment (thanks a ton!) so I could add the “BIG {HUG}” sentiment from a retired hostess set.  Other supplies you will need to make this card include:

  • Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder
  • Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper
  • Whisper White and Calypso Coral Cardstock
  • Stampin’ Write Markers

Some one armed stampin' with Tessa

Some one armed stampin’ with Tessa

Tessa and I had already planned to make cards for Liam’s upcoming surgery before she broke her arm so she had to do some one armed stampin’ when she made cards for Liam.  She was living up to her motto, “Stampin’ Girls Don’t Quit!”  Holds true even when you have your arm in a brace and a sling!

I really like the Patterned Occasions set from the Sale-A-Bration choices.  It was one of the first ones that I selected.  The variety of images cover multiple occasions and can easily be adapted.

For Liam, I used the bandaid/get well image from Patterned Occasions.  Seemed like a good choice for a get well card.  I added a little Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details to the heart in the center of the bandage.

Liam's Get Well Card

The other supplies you will need to make this card are:

  • Pacific Point, Whisper White, and Pumpkin Pie Cardstock
  • Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper
  • Stampin’ Write Markers

Both Liam and Tessa enjoyed their cards.  Liam asked me if he would get more “feel better” cards while he recovers.  I think I can deliver on that.

God Bless and Happy Stampin’!

Isabel is 14

Isabel turned 14 in December (hard to believe!) and she wanted to take a road trip to the Olympic Peninsula with a few friends. Both sets of grandparents are over there so it was actually an easy trip. For her invitations we decided that a luggage tag was the perfect idea.

We found a sample card using the retired set, Travel Log, so I borrowed the stamps from a fellow demonstrator. We used the Tea for Two fabric in the current mini catalog.

The trip details were on the back of the invitation card tucked into the luggage tag. We also included a name tag made using digital studio. It was great seeing all their bags with luggage tags when their parents dropped them off.

The luggage tags were easy to design/sew. I don’t have a detailed tutorial, but I could provide instructions if you request them. There are also several on Pinterest.
